The waves swirled about her ankles much as the horizon spooled out around her. Delighted in the sensory onslaught, she giggled and turned in another circle, causing the sensations to proliferate. Yet it resulted in a precarious sense of balance, and when a wave caught the back of her knee, she uttered a squeak as she found her equilibrium no longer in her control.
Then an arm around her back, a low chuckle in her ear, and her laughter returned as she leaned against Jack’s warm chest, undaunted. Here she can dance, here she can laugh, here she can live.
